About “The Sermon on the Mount: Teachings from Matthew 7”

What does the Bible say about judging others? How can I have discernment? How do I pray with confidence? What is the Golden Rule? How do I enter the narrow gate? What does fruit tell about a tree in our lives? Will Jesus reject anyone?

These are just a few of the questions answered by the Lord Jesus in the seventh chapter of Matthew’s Gospel. You may have asked these questions and you may be asking them today.

The words of this chapter fall at the end of the most famous of Jesus' sermons called the “Sermon on the Mount.” In this great sermon, the Lord Jesus is speaking to a multitude of normal people. It was people like you and me. They were married, unmarried, raising kids, empty nesters, grandparents, aunts, uncles, employed, unemployed, homemakers, home-owners, homeless, healthy, ill, known, unknown, Jewish, Gentile, male, female, adult, and children. He speaks in common language using common pictures to help common people understand eternal truths.

In The Sermon on the Mount: Teachings from Matthew 7,” we will try to place ourselves there, on that grassy hillside in Galilee, among the crowd to not only listen to Him speak but to be changed by His words. Our goal will be to come away from this book the way many came away from the sermon that day - changed forever.

“The Sermon on the Mount: Teachings from Matthew 7” contains nine study guides for group discussion and fifty-four devotions for personal development. The goal of “The Sermon on the Mount: Teachings from Matthew 7” is for the reader first to realize their sinful condition and need for a Savior. Once that is settled, we need to live for the Lord. It is not always easy. Jesus addresses some very challenging topics. With Him, you can take on the challenge.
